ABA Therapy
|
No wait for ABA therapy in Kingwood, TX. In network with BCBS, UHC, and Tricare. Small BCBA case loads with high levels of BCBA supervision. Individualized 1:1 ABA therapy. |
ABA therapy teaches skills in a 1:1 setting (1 child with 1 therapist) in a way that promotes learning for clients with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Each client has their own Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) based on their current needs and the family’s goals for the child. At Navigating Behavior Solutions, we believe learning should be fun and that one size definitely doesn’t suit all. We strive to make the learning environment age appropriate, engaging and enriching while teaching functional skills that can be generalized to other caregivers, home and school settings.
Emotional regulation is a focus of ABA therapy, and each client has their own individualized procedures to teach and promote emotional regulation skills such as identifying how they feel, identifying coping tools, and utilizing coping tools in the moment when frustrated/ anxious. Movement is required for children to learn and grow. Movement is integrated into every ABA session for clients to be able to play and regulate by using items in the sensory room such as trampolines, hippity hops, scooter boards, spin discs, rocking boat, peanut balls, yoga balls, etc.; playing games outside such as tag, kickball, soccer, hide & seek, etc.; or more traditional exercise schedules such as running, jumping jacks, sit ups, push ups, etc. for our older clients.
Board games are heavily imbedded in our ABA therapy curriculum as ways to generalize skills learned at the table, connect with peers, reinforce appropriate behaviors, and learn new skills. Young learners often play simple games like Memory Matching or Lucky Ducks to develop simple turn taking skills. Cooperative games such as Hoot Owl Hoot, Dinosaur Escape, Outfoxed and Space Escape are utilized to teach cooperative play for a common goal and can increase flexibility and decrease competition with peers. Once our learners can engage in turn taking and complete cooperative games together, we let them engage in competitive games like Ker-plunk, Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders to allow them to focus on higher level emotional regulation strategies and flexibility. Strategy games are then utilized to teach flexible thinking, perspective taking skills, and strategy such as Dr. Eureka, Mastermind, Clue, and Shifty Eyed Spies.
ABA therapy is conducted by a BT (Behavior Technician), RBT (Registered Behavior Technician), or BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Our BCBAs are highly involved with their clients and conduct supervision 10-20% of the time the client is attending ABA therapy each week! Each RBT on a client’s case can expect to see their child’s supervisor at least once every week so they can answer any questions the technician may have and modify the treatment program as needed. Our BCBAs are on site, in the clinical setting, 5 days a week to assist with maladaptive behaviors and to answer any questions our BTs and RBTs have during the ABA session.
All of our staff members complete the mandatory 40 hours of training prior to working with clients, they are CPR certified, attend yearly non-violent Crisis Prevention training, and attend on-going staff training conducted by BCBAs and Lead RBTs in accordance to the standards set forth by the BACB (Behavior Analysts Certification Board).

We offer full-time (35 hours per week) and part time ABA therapy. Our standard schedule is 9:00AM - 4:00PM, however, it is not uncommon for us to modify a client’s ABA schedule when needed to align with the family’s schedule and/or other therapies (Speech, OT, PT, etc.). Recommended ABA therapy hours per week are based on the specific client’s behavioral, social, communication, and generalization needs.

Getting Started with ABA therapy
In order to get started with ABA therapy, please send us an email to navigatingbehaviorsolutions@yahoo.com to request our ABA intake form. We require a copy of the diagnostic assessment giving your child a diagnosis of Autism, a copy of your insurance card, and a completed application packet in order to add your child to our waitlist.
ABA Assessment
After you have submitted the above documentation, we will contact you to schedule an ABA assessment. This assessment is typically broken up into 2-3 face to face visits, with 1-2 visits with your child present to assess their current skill level. A final visit with just the parents or caregivers to discuss the results of the assessment, proposed treatment plan and policies and procedures at our clinic occurs once the assessment is completed.
After the ABA assessment is completed, we will request an authorization for treatment from your insurance provider. Most authorizations are valid for 6 months.
Once we have an authorization in place, we can start scheduling ABA therapy!
